Returns from the RFI will help to shape upcoming tenders for EV charging infrastructure in public carparks

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has launched a Request for Information (RFI) to seek the industry’s views on a commercially sustainable market design for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in public carparks to spur EV adoption.

The RFI invites industry players to submit their views on issues including the installation and operation of charging points, the provision and costs of charging services to consumers, as well as the upgrades to supporting electrical infrastructure such as switch rooms and substations. Together with the ongoing pilot tender launched by LTA and the Urban Redevelopment Authority in November 2020 for the deployment of 600 charging points, the RFI returns will inform the design of future tenders for EV charging infrastructure.

The launch of the RFI is a key step in Singapore’s effort to deploy 60,000 EV charging points by 2030, of which 40,000 will be located in public carparks. By the 2030s, LTA will strive to make all towns EV-Ready, with all HDB carparks fitted with EV charging points.

“A comprehensive EV charging network in public carparks is the centrepiece of our national strategy for EV adoption. The private sector will play an important role in delivering Singapore’s EV charging infrastructure. Through this RFI, the National EV Centre hopes to leverage the insights and expertise of industry players to shape a sustainable and effective EV charging ecosystem”, said Lam Wee Shann, LTA’s Chief Innovation & Transport Technology Officer.
