Low-Powered Charging
- Commonly known as ‘Slow chargers’.
- Power rating: ≤ 22kW.
- Usually requires an on-board charger to convert AC to DC power to charge the battery.
- Lower burden on electrical infrastructure.
- Gentler for batteries in the long run.
High-Powered Charging
- Commonly known as ‘Fast chargers’.
- Power rating: >22kW to 150kW.
- Usually bypasses the on-board charger of the vehicle and delivers the direct current via the Battery Management System (BMS) to the battery.
- Higher burden on electrical infrastructure.
